Fuel Tank capacity issue

I have been driving Toyota vehicles for 15 years now. 2 Tundra's, 1 Rav 4 and now a Grand Highlander. Toyota designs all their vehicles with a reserve so you will never run out of fuel. So if you have a 17 gallon tank and it shows empty at 13, there is nothing wrong with your system, its the way they designed it. I do not know the range designed in just they protect you from ever being stranded because you're out of fuel. An additional note I just learned. When you're fueling and the handle clicks off, stop fueling. You can seriously damage your vehicle by over fueling it. For more information, visit The Car Care Nut on youtube. He is a Master Technician for Toyota and he has a host of videos explaining all this. I recommend all videos relevant to the vehicle you are driving.
