I did take my car for the update last week—I’m 200 miles above the 20,000 mile warranty and they did NOT charge me for this update. It did take a little over and hour. Jury is still out if it did much. My husband said he filled up today it had 60 miles to empty so maybe 3 gallons in the tank (?) at 26.5 mpg — and was able to put in 10.5 gallons of fuel…I’ll see what happens with this tank over the next few weeks.

Thanks for the information. I'm not sure I fully understood the update. Is there any way to adjust the system so that the tank shows as empty when there are 2.5 gallons remaining, instead of the current 5.25 gallons it shows when the gauge reads empty? Also, glad to hear your car is getting 26.5 mpg! My Hybrid Max is only getting 23.5 mpg.

With the second fill up, it’s showing me 29.9 miles to the gallon on the hybrid max. Which is kind of weird because it always stayed around the 24 miles per gallon so I guess that is working better but still not taking the amount of fuel it needs.

You must be using the electric motor way more than me. Glad you are getting such great gas mileage.

Ed, the DTE gas gauge starts at fill up using the average mpg on dash to calculate DTE. The DTE adjusts as you drive recalculating using current mpg to show DTE. The low fuel warning light on dash is separate from the DTE. It uses a separate sensor in gas tank that shows warning when 2.5 gals remain in tank. See engine manual. My MAX goes in Oct 1 for TSB, I don’t know if SB corrects both DTE and LFW. My LFW turns on with 4.5 gals in tank. Dealer previously stated that my LFW is within acceptable limit. Regards Pete H

Our experience had been LFW turned on at 20 DTE before SW update; its turned on twice at 14 DTE since update.

I have noticed that I can put more gas in after it initially shuts off but still not able to get close to the 17 gallon max capacity. If you are averaging 25 miles per gallon and when you fill up it is saying 350 until empty...that would be 14 gallons. I just took a road trip and the fuel economy of the Hybrid Max was only 22 MPG and my average speed was 78 MPH. This does not get anywhere close to the MPG they claim.
Toyota has told me it is bad to keep adding fuel after the pump shuts off.

It's true that over filling the tank is "bad" because it can contaminate the vapor filter, I tend to think that filling to the second "click" shouldn't over fill the tank. I couldn't find a link to support that so I'm open to learning more.
