Hi
@Toyota Fan welcome to the forum! How are you liking your Grand Highlander so far? Have you had any issues with it?
Me, my wife, son & daughter in Law, I have been driving Toyotas for over 25 years, from the Previa Van with captains chairs, Previa that went over 200,000 miles, A 2010 Highlander still running with 250,00 miles my son now drives, and two RAV 4's. I got my Hybrid Grand Highlander in September 2023 and it has approximately 25,000 miles. My wife and I are both professional engineers and both of us have over 40 years of experience. As for the 2024 Hybrid Grand Highlander, the vehicle has significantly more internal room than the 2010 Highlander, It also gets much better mileage 27 to 30 MPG vs 17 to 23 MPG. The vehicle handles well, has decent acceleration, is comfortable for both the front and rear passengers, and has a decent sound system.
However; I think the car was released "not ready for prime time". Most of the problems I experience appear to be in the computer programing and connectivity systems. I've had the vehicle into Toyota service five times for the inability to access more than 12 to 12.5 gallons in the 17+ gallon gas tank. Still no improvement. Android Auto needs an extensive update for Samsung phones, it's buggy and takes control over all other Bluetooth connections to my phone.
The vehicle has way too many warning noises, from beeps, dings, announcements, warnings, steering wheel vibrations and other tones going off, often for inappropriate or unknown reasons. This is not only distracting, but dangerous. I often have to take my eyes off the road to determine what each noise indicates, some times requiring me to touch the screen or a button on the steering wheel. It's not helpful, not desired, and in my opinion; dangerous by adding distractions requiring me to take my attention off driving. I've turned off most of the noises and vibrations, but I'm unable to turn off the constant unnecessary reminders, warnings and "required maintenance" pop-ups. It is frustrating and annoying, not something we've (yes, plural) previously experienced with Toyota Vehicles.
One other very concerning item that has occurred on three separate occasions, the 2024 Hybrid GH has totally shut down when stuck in traffic. This has only happened in situations where I have been stuck on an Interstate behind a significant accident where only a few cars are getting past at a time and traffic is stop and go, with very low speeds over miles.
All things considered, I should purchased a different Toyota model with a proven track record. It is still a good vehicle, but does not measure up to previous models. Too many bugs.
